OH. MY. FUCKING. GOD. Sorry, God, but this kinda deserves this.
If I could ever in my entire life do this, then I would be there in a heartbeat or less. EMPHASIS ON THE LESS!!!!!!!
This is only the second annual, so they supposedly are going to do this every year. last year they sold out in nine minutes. what's it gonna be like this year?
... I hate it. school is then.... I hate it.

I say we charter a helicopter. Drop us right down into the retreat. Take them hostage from the inside out.
But man nine minutes...and there are even fewer tickets this year...and likely much more publicity. It'll be a matter of internet connection speed.

I'm planning to scrounge for money tomorrow, see if I can work it into my budget somehow... And then get online just before it opens if I can figure it out. Fingers crossed!
(But $750 is so much money. And that's just to be allowed in - forget hotel and airfare. Maybe I'll apply for that scholarship... Probably won't get it, but it can't hurt to apply, right?)

Heh, thanks, Mask! I appreciate the thought.  Sadly, I didn't get a spot... I'm not sure if the website was glitching or if it really just sold out in the first five seconds, but yeah. No luck for me. I'm going to try for the scholarship, though. Doubt I'll get it, since they're looking for "diversity" and I'm about as opposite that as it gets, but I'll try. |

Thank you! I just have to find someone to write my last letter of recommendation... You'd think that, after going to writing school for four years, I'd have more than two people I could ask for this kind of thing. |

I have exactly one teacher I can ask for a letter of recommendation... He was amazing, but he was truly the only one I really connected with there. (I'm actually really shy, so getting to know people is hard for me - especially when said people are in positions of authority. Didn't help that most of the faculty kind of looked down on fantasy and genre work in general.) So I have one professor, one close friend, and I'm thinking I might ask another of my friends if she'd be willing to write one for me. Eesh, I need to get on that, don't I? Deadline coming up. |
