Who's seen the BBC show Merlin? Because I finished it a few days ago, and I absolutely LOVED it, I fell in love with the characters . . . but the ending was SO HORRIBLE!! I mean, I'm fine with bittersweet endings, but this one was a tragedy! I almost cried, and I couldn't sleep that night, so I came up with an alternate ending which I'm writing now.
So my question is, who's seen Merlin? Because I thought I might post my alternate ending on here but I'm not going to if you all haven't seen the original.

Ooh, I haven't seen Merlin yet but I'm going to watch it! (So don't tell me! ) I'm working my way through Doctor Who now, finally. Almost done with season two. And I just finished Sherlock a bit ago. Apparently, the BBC owns me. Or at least my television interest.

Doctor Who is awesommmme. So is Sherlock. Seriously, BBC owns all the world's best shows. Other than Psych.

Pretty much. I had zero exposure to it before I started watching Sherlock (except for a few episodes of Doctor Who, but I was watching those with a friend so I couldn't just blaze through the episodes), and now I can't stop. Though I must admit, the end of Doctor Who season 2 has me hesitating to watch it... I've had too many spoilers, and I just know it's going to break my heart.

Yes it will. I knew what was going to happen and I was tearing up anyway. I would say more but I don't want to spoil it more for you...

I tear up at the end of nearly every episode. I mean, I cry easily anyway, for things both happy and sad, but this is ridiculous. I'll probably be sobbing at the end of the season. (Doctor Who, what are you doing to me?)

All I'm going to say is that I can't start it during the school year, or else I'll just plain fail all my classes.
(I get sucked into TV really easily. That's actually part of the reason my family doesn't have a TV.)

I get that way, too, Mask. It's even worse with books. I have a book that I really, really want to read, but I haven't let myself start it yet for two reasons. First, it's over 1000 pages long. Second, if I start reading it, I won't do anything else until I finish, and I have too many deadline-sensitive things to deal with right now. So the book is just sitting in my "to read" pile, taunting me.

Is it the Way of Kings, or Words of Radiance? (Because Sanderson is the one writer I know you love. )

I actually read it at the end of last year, and I LOVED IT!!!!!!! (Probably didn't do so well as I should have the last semester, but I couldn't put it down once I started.) Anyway, it completely lives up to and even surpasses the first in my opinion because there's so much expansion of the world, yet still so much yet to come. I can see this turning into a five book series unless he wants to keep it at three. I won't speak any more about it though, because I know you want to read it.

I'm pretty sure this is his "Wheel of Time." (I heard somewhere that he has ten books planned, but I'm not sure of the accuracy of that statement.)

Wow. That's really weird because the first time I read The Way of Kings, I thought it strikingly similar to the Wheel of Time series.
I've read some of the Wheel of Time. Got to book seven between the beginning of last summer and the end. Good character development, and Sanderson finished the last 2?...3? books, so I'm really interested in how it ends.

Yeah, there are definite similarities - that's probably part of why they chose Sanderson to finish the Wheel of Time. (He also took ten years to plan the Stormlight Archive before he started writing it. Which is just incredible.) I read the first four books of the Wheel of Time in high school, then started college and didn't have time for pleasure reading anymore. I want to go back and finish it, if only because Sanderson did write the last few books, but I'll have to start over, I think. I remember only the bare bones of the plot, at this point.

Yeah, that's probably what's going to end up happening to me as well, though I'm taking a gap year before college to work up some money.
