I saw this once on another forum and am simply curious. This is what my desktop looks like on my 2nd computer where I do all my writing: Instructions- Hit 'prt sc' a.k.a 'print screen'. - Paste in paint or a program of the like and save. - Upload with Imageshack, DeviantArt, or other sites that allow image upload.

Don't make fun of my ancient computer. It is better than your mom. (EDIT: Images that are too big will stretch this board and take forever to load. Better shrink 'em)

Ah. I love the background, though. That's a cool optical illusion. My other computer is an XP. I wanted a back-up computer so I borrowed money from my dad and bought my new one. It's actually a Netbook. It's 1/2 the size of a laptop. The speakers are awesome and all I need. Some don't like the small screens, but I write and research. I don't do gaming or watch movies too often on it.

Haha I love it too It used to be Rafiki from the Lion King, but my friend changed it when I was in the bathroom. "If you're not gonna have psychadelic posters on your walls you need one for your desktop" I've heard good things about netbooks. They're cheaper than regular laptops, too, right? How is it for travelling? Also I noticed you had Rosetta Stone; what language are you learning? I've been thinking about learning Hindi.

"If you're not gonna have psychadelic posters on your walls you need one for your desktop" I've heard good things about netbooks. They're cheaper than regular laptops, too, right? How is it for travelling? They're good for traveling because they're small. It's easier to move around the house to various locations because I can hold it with one hand. My first Netbook cost me about 220--I think? It was during a black-Friday sale and I also got a discount because my Dad worked at Radioshack at the time. My new one was about 350. A little more expensive. Mine is an HP Window 7 Basic which doesn't let me change the background. A pitfall is they don't have disc-drives. I bought an external one for 20 or 30 bucks. I like Netbooks because they're small. It saves space on my desk. That's one of the main reasons why I like them. My sister hates them because they're too small and because they don't have disc drives. I'm content with mine. I love it and will probably never go back to a full-size laptop. It depends on your needs and whether or not you can handle a small screen and keyboard. Also I noticed you had Rosetta Stone; what language are you learning? I've been thinking about learning Hindi. German! My dad and I went in half and got Levels 1-5. I was broke all last year though, because I bought my computer and had to pay my dad back for Rosetta Stone. My only thing with Rosetta Stone, is you really should have a basic understanding on the language because they don't explain why the rules change or give translations, you have to figure it out on your own. German works for me because my dad taught me some while I was home-schooled. I wanted to get back into it. I use my German Living Language Book in between Rosetta Stone. If you have no knowledge of a language and are only using Rosetta Stone I don't think the program is very effective.

It depends. It can be annoying because there is practically no grammar. That's how all of us learned english. If you find it easy to pick up languages then its great. But its not always the best choice by itself. Now if you moved to the country, and only with people who spoke German, you'd learn it pretty quickly.

You learn grammar when you start learning your native language you just don't understand it. It's how Rosetta Stone works. It's best to know the grammar and why the grammar changes, but Rosetta Stone doesn't explain it. I'm lucky to have had schooling in it before-hand. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for anyone starting out. My cousin is a missionary in Siberia. She's been there for 4 years now and has become very fluent in Russian. And Russian is difficult because it has 7 cases not 4 like in English and German.

I liked Latin because it had rules. And the exceptions to those rules had rules. I didn't think it was that hard to remember the cases, and conjugating.

My sister took Latin, but her teacher instilled a sense of arrogance in her students for learning Latin because somehow it was better than every other language, making me hate it, needless to say. German cases are pretty simple, but it does get a little difficult remember what endings to use eg: einen or einem. The Rosetta Stone helps me with that. Oh, and Zoom, I love the titles of some of your folders. Lol.
