I just came across this site through a podcast I was listening to (Geek's Guide to the Galaxy, on wired.com - it's amazing! You should all go listen to it!) and I discovered that Brandon Sanderson had a graduate student post a school year's worth of his lectures online. I haven't actually watched the videos yet, but if you want to be essentially taught by a published author (a massively successful one, at that), you might want to take a look. Go here and hover over "Learn" at the top of the page to see the list of lectures.

Ooo! That looks awesome! I just watched a short section of one part and it's great. Definitely bookmarking.

If you guys like Brandon Sanderson, you should check out the podcast he does every week with a few other authors. It's called Writing Excuses, and has helped me out a ton with my writing.

I follow Writing Excuses, too! Not regularly, unfortunately, as I'm rather busy, but I catch an episode here and there. (And I'm so glad to find another Brandon Sanderson fan! If you dig back among the topics here, you might notice that I mention him rather frequently. )

I'll have to look into this stuff. I haven't written in a long time so I have a ton of stuff to write. Thanks for the push. Also Brandon Sanderson just wrote a new book called the Rithmatist or something. I just got it from the library so when I read it I will tell you all how it was.

I'm super excited to read The Rithmatist! Have you guys read his novellas, The Emperor's Soul and Legion?
Do you follow him on facebook, jonasp? He leaves progress updates there. On his website, too... He's finished the first draft of Words of Radiance. (Also, I kind of understand his working on other projects at the same time. One novel, even a short one, is a huge undertaking - and Stormlight books are at least three times the length of a typical novel. I'd need a break here and there, too.) His young adult and children's stuff is good, though, too! Have you read the Alcatraz series? It's hilarious.

Hey, thanks for posting this site. I'm gonna give it a try. I haven't written anything substantial for like a year or so. But this school year is going to be good.

You're welcome. Wish I could thank the person who made all those lectures available. I hope it helps! I look forward to reading what you come up with.
