I knew a guy in high school whose mom had a cockatiel. It woke up every morning at 5AM and screeched every 30 seconds till dusk.

Haha. So you keep it in a sound-proof room for the sake of sleep.
My high school music department took a trip to San Antonio, my sophomore year, and the San Antonio Zoo has this amazing exhibit called Lory Landing. People can go into the enclosure with a flock of lorikeets and feed them nectar out of these little cups. They would perch on your shoulder, your hand, on top of your head... It was incredible. That's when I fell in love with birds. (Though I must say, I hesitate to get one as a pet partly because of the noise you mentioned, Zoom.)

Holy shit my parents went to that when I was 13! Or something like that in San Antonio.
I like their little prickle feet. Also I should mention that this bird (can't remember its name) got basically no attention; wouldn't be surprised if good raising would affect the outcome.

Coolest experience ever. That was like seven years ago and I still want to go back.
Aww, poor bird. Yeah, I would probably annoy mine with how often I wanted to hold it, pet it, sing to/with it...
