Ok how do you all write stories? By Hand? Or by Keyboard? I have always used a computer but i am trying to get into writing by hand but I just hit an annoying amount of writers block (even though it doesnt really exist) and am wondering if you have any tips.

I do the synopses and small plot/characterization ideas nearly all by hand--sometimes twenty pages of it--because somehow that works best and better and more comfortably for me--gives me time to think things through and I like being able to see and re-rule-out why I didn't like it in the first or second place. I then write out the actual story on a computer when at all possible, but sometimes on my phone when in a pinch. That usually crimps my style though.

I started out writing by hand (before I got a computer). After getting my computer I started "writing" on there. I found it hard at first cause I was slow and didn't know where all the keys were. But now, I find it hard to write by hand, my hands starts to cramp easily. So, yeah, it's by keyboard now.

I used to write by hand, until I got my own computer. I would carry notebooks around with me everywhere. Then I got to college and it just wasn't practical to write by hand - assignments had to be typed, of course, and I didn't have time to write everything out twice. I also used to not edit my own work much, and that is SO much easier to do when it's already on a computer. As for writer's block... When I got stuck writing by hand I used to just doodle in the margins until I knew what to write next. Or write out song lyrics, or something. That usually got me through little blocks, when I didn't know how to word something. I also did a ton of crossing out and writing insertions in the margins. If it's a bigger, what-happens-next-in-the-story kind of block, consider your characters. What are their motivations? What do they want to happen? And so, what would they do to make that happen? Think plot-wise, of course, but also make sure you consider their own personal, emotional motives.

I think that I must just restart free writing 5 minutes a day. That might get me going.
