Yep, there's always a product if there's a market for it. Are you going to the midnight premiere of The Hunger Games? I was thinking of going to see it over the weekend but my dad got tickets for the 12:01 show. (Which, apparently, is better than the 12:05 show, my dad tells me, because we see things four minutes before everyone else. ) Anyway, looks like I'm crashing after track to wake up later and watch a movie. Unfortunately, it won't be in New York, but it's the earliest show that'll allow me to be at school in the morning sleepy-eyed.

Oh, you're so lucky! The midnight showing in NY actually sold out really, really fast. At least at the theaters near me. So I'm going next weekend, instead. On a happier note, that means I won't be going alone. One of my friends is visiting over the week, so we'll go together. Also, I get to see Memphis on Friday night. So... I'll survive waiting to see The Hunger Games, painful though it will be.

Oh that's good! I'm really trying not to get my hopes up for it because I don't want to be dissapointed, but I'm quite excited about it. Speaking of which, I should be sleeping.

Well, I'm guessing you've seen it by now... So how was it? (Just good or bad - please don't tell me anything else. )

Haha, not surprised you were tired. I can't wait to see it! Should happen some time next week. Memphis, for the record, was also amazing. Far better than I expected, actually, given that I knew next to nothing about it before I went.

It's really good. I could easily see it several times over. Ooo, cool! Elvis lived there, right? Haha, I love how those trips end up.

I can't wait to see it! Urgh. Lol.
I actually didn't go to the city Memphis - I saw the musical. But seeing the city would be pretty cool too, I imagine, heh. I have no idea if Elvis lived there, but that would make a lot of sense.

It's really good! Hehe. ;D
Oh! That makes way more sense. Lol, I think he did, but I've never really been into history.

Well, the musical was about a black singer in the 1950s, and it talks about making "black music" accessible to white people, so it makes sense that Elvis - who was one of the first to make said black music popular with white teens - would be in the area, at least for a while.

That definitely correlates nicely. That musical sounds really interesting, and I'm not typically into musicals. I don't think this is spoiling anything for you from the movie, but I really really really really love this song from the soundtrack: Abraham's Daughter. So good! www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WCoJv192VY

It was an excellent show. Of course, I am into musicals, so.
I have now seen the movie, so no worries with spoilers anymore! That. Is an amazing song. Wow...
So, now that I've seen the movie... Amazing! Just... I couldn't form a coherent thought for like five minutes afterward.

Yes! I love that song. I was thrilled when I found it.
Lol, I understand. For book to movie I thought it was great, though the mockingjay pin annoyed me, because isn't it from a friend of hers who's the daughter of the mayor/governor/someone? Not some random person at the market. :/ As a film, I thought it was awesome. I loved how they added in parts from the president's and gamemaker's point of view, that was so cool.
And I think it helped that Suzanne Collins was an executive producer not just the author of the book the film was based on and she helped with the screenplay version.

I thought the mockingjay thing was okay. We don't need Madge - she's not ever an important character. And it really helped solidify Katniss and Prim's relationship. We can't see Katniss's thoughts in a movie, and the book relied heavily on those for their sisterly bond, so we needed something solid, something visible.
I definitely agree that the added points of view were perfect. They added so much dimension to the story! And they raised the stakes from just Katniss's life to the fate of the districts, which was amazing. I love that they showed the people from the districts watching the games, and the revolt in 11 starting with Rue's death. Excellent.
I was a bit disappointed by the cave scene, though. It was too short. To justify Katniss's choice to go to the feast for Peeta's medicine, he needs to be in really, really serious condition. All they needed was a few more minutes, to bring the blood poisoning from the book in, and his life would have seemed in immediate danger. As it is, he didn't seem all that sick, so it wasn't really justified that Katniss should risk her life for his medicine. I was thinking as I watched that she should just go hunt down the other tributes, one by one, like she'd hunt a deer. She seemed to have time for that in the movie, where in the book she definitely didn't.
I'm sure it helped that Suzanne Collins had so much to do with the movie. I was excited that she was actually credited as one of the screenwriters - she worked on it, not just approved it. Having the author involved was a good choice on their part.

I loved the revolt! That was brilliant. I agree, the cave was disappointing. And when she got back it was just 'I told you not to go' and 'You got worse'. Too straightforward. :/ Yes! I was so happy when I saw that.
