(Is this in the right place...?)
...For when you want to write something, but you don't have any inspiration.
I'll start with a few off the top of my head. Someday I want to work through all of these, so keep 'em coming!
1. Write about something that made you proud. 2. Write about somebody who inspires you. 3. Write from the point of view of your pet / car / house. 4. Write about the time you were the most scared you've ever been. 5. Go to the dictionary and pick out five random words. Write something that uses at least three of them. 6. Write a story about yourself as you hope to be in five years. 7. Write a story about yourself as you're scared you'll be in five years. 8. Write a poem with a punctuation mark after each line. 9. Write a poem with no punctuation. 10. Write a poem that starts and ends with the same line. 11. Write a story about a 'boring' character and make it interesting. 12. Write a story about an inherited object.

Oh, I'd love for someone to write a mystery story about who stole the cookies <.< >.>

This is the right place, Zoom. Those are good ideas. In Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life, Anne Lamott suggests that you write about your childhood if you're stuck. Just start with what you remember and keep going. Her example was all about school lunch.

That's a good idea! They say to write what you know, right? And Toni - I've been playing with the idea of a really campy private eye story for a while and I think I just found my plotline

Reviving this thread because I think it was a good idea: This time I'm gonna try first lines to stories! - "Marcel had a gun." - "The night was foggy, so the full moon's light diffused over the landscape in an eerie manner reminiscent of the style of a depressed Tumblr amateur photographer" - "If you had asked me three, maybe four years ago what I thought of Albert Stein, I would have said he was a socially inept but brilliant and somehow enigmatic engineer. Today...well, I think his Portable Nuclear Fusion Dual-Stream Particle Consentrator (eg a Death Ray) speaks for itself." - "'Exhibit A: the Blue Macaw. Though extinct for several centuries, modern science has enabled us to bring it back...with...minor complications.'" - "Though Elenor was deep in the clutches of an overdose-induced fever, she was somehow able to unlock her cellphone and dial 911. She was not, however, capable of speaking." - "The main difference between Allison and I was..." This is really fun, give it a shot!! I find that this Random word generator is really helpful.

Hehehe, I had a lot of fun with these Especially Chaotic Shiny's academic field generator. Now I just have to decide if I want to major in Geological Encryption, Theoretical Demonology, or Creative Physiology. They could all be so useful!

Chaotic Shiny is my favorite generator ever. Someday, I'm going to build a world and a story using exclusively that site. I like the Conspiracy Theory generator.
