Ok so i am working on a story about a girl who is kidnapped into a trafficing ring. I think that it is all going to be in Asia somewhere, and alot of the story is about her escape. The major problem with it at the moment is that i have little to no knowledge on real life drugs and what they do. Its the way that they are controlled, by their addictions. and so i know that she is going to have at least one addiction, one that they use to control her, and a serious one, or more. Does anyone have any knowledge on different drugs?

I know about ibuprofen and pamprin (Heh, you probably won't need that one) and benedryll. Oh, LSD. My track coach makes the long distance runners do it. Long Slow Distance. Yep, so that's about it. In Fringe Walter drops acid to remember stuff and it turns into a monty python type cartoon. It's brilliant. You could do a research paper on drugs to get a lot of background information. Though with your story outline, if it's from her point of view and she doesn't know anything about drugs, you probably don't need to know anything specific. Just description of her unfocused?

Well yeah, but she would definatly feel the effects of the drug. So i sort of need those, i just haven't decided what type of drug i want it to do so i figured i would do some research. It could be something like an insanely powerful cafine so that she can't do anything without it. A drug that gives you a mindless high so that you are easily controlled by the pleasure. A complete knockout drug to stop her from doing anything........

Hydrocodone and Oxycotin. Never took 'em, but I have cousins who are druggies. The one is in rehab. She keeps having babies to keep her out of jail. I think what you should research is what types of drugs there are in Asia, because that's on the other side of the world from the United States. It's a 3rd world country and I don't know how able those people are at getting drugs, let alone how lenient they might be with them. Where and who will supply the drugs?

You need to go to an art school. Plenty of people know about drugs here. I, however, am not one of them. I'm with Toni, though - research is your friend. Also, look for books about drug users. Reading from their point of view can be very helpful in getting descriptions of the sensations. You could try Jesus' Son by Denis Johnson. I've had to read selected stories from it for three separate classes, and it does include quite a lot of drug use.

I'd say your best bet is some high-potency opiate. Heroin, or hell, if you're going to be in Asia, go for opium itself. 1. Opiates - esp. heroin and hydromorphs - are super super addicting. 2. Opiates are also downers (ie you get really calm) so that might be better, to give to a group of girls trying to escape, than say cocaine or benzos, which make you peppy and somewhat aggressive. 3. Withdrawl is THE WORST THING IN THE WORLD. Seriously you're laid up in bed for three days, feeling like you simultaneously caught a bad cold + got mugged, plus you hate yourself and everything else and it is just generally something you don't want to ever have to do. So I can see them controlling these girls both with addiction to the pleasure, and fear of the withdrawl. 4. Asia is like the opiate capital of the world. Research: try Bluelight.ru, or the Erowid Experience Vaults. Both of these forums are somewhat pro-drugs though so make sure you delete your history if there's any chance your parents will see and get the wrong idea. Also E isn't physically addicting but is a hell of a good time; maybe it could be like a reward for girls who don't cause trouble? LSD can also be incredibly disorientating and even terrifying; I could see them using it to originally kidnap her. That or Roofies (which I don't know much about other than that they cause clumsiness and eventually blackouts). Or a good amount of ketamine. "My track coach makes the long distance runners do it." Are you serious!?!?!? Hahaha that's brilliant!

Also something you might want to know for when she escapes: methadone is commonly used (in North America anyway) to help you ease off opiate addiction without withdrawing too harshly.
