Okay, I'm not entirely sure this goes in this board, but I wasn't any more sure it went anywhere else, so here it went. ;D
Basic sketch of a story's setting ...
There are two warring groups/factions that have been at each other's throats for a looooong time. The story's main character is a young-ish, distinguished member/hero of one of the two, a girl.
Off the cuff, where do you expect this story to go?

My first thought is a warrior Juliet who ends up finding Romeo in the midst of fighting for her people. Though maybe these two don't die in the end. Then again, maybe they do.

She defeats the 'bad guys', one of whom is a dashing young rebel and they fall in unrequited love, by unlocking the secret power that was inside her all along. Also she's an incredibly talented swordsmistress / archer. There's some sort of prophecy that's going to come true.

The two typically general plotlines that would come to mind would be a Romeo and Juliet-ish story, or a story where one side are good guys and the others are bad, and the good guys win. I can tell you, there's no prophecy. Those annoy me because they're just an excuse not to come up with good explanations for the natural flow of things.
But with this, if I added that she has a sort of memory wipe, would it change what you expect at all?

Hmmmm sequel #two? I guess I can't really say, but maybe she ends up fighting for the wrong side.

No, no, no! This is, like, sequel 8! No, actually, I think it's 7. Let me check....nope, right first guess - this is 8! ;D 7 is in the Pole; this one's in a desert/tropical grassland setting. Kinda like Africa. Only not.

Honestly, besides the things already mentioned, my first thought was that the heroine is going to find out that there's a third party, pulling the strings. But that's pretty general, so it's probably not as cliche as the others.

"if I added that she has a sort of memory wipe" Probably the most cliche of them all

Spectre - yeah, I thought about having a third group in here, but as of now there isn't one. Zoom - maybe so. I was trying to think of a way she could be affected the same way, have the same status, but not lose her memory. See, her dad is one of the top people or whatever in her faction. They've been fighting the other faction for a looong time, and their kids are basically raised hating the others ahead of everything else. This girl (as it is now) ends up being raised by a totally uninterested person between age 7 and 14 (ish), and she's trained to be a really outstanding fighter. Then she's kidnapped back into her original faction, and becomes a distinguished member of their army because she's so skilled. She's still in the mindset of hating the second group, but then she gets some kind of head trauma in a fight and temporarily loses a lot of her memory, and she realizes how unreasonable the whole war between the two factions is and the rest of the book is about her trying to stop it.
